Overview

Milo ("we," "our," or "us") is an AI planning assistant that operates within WhatsApp group chats and through a companion mobile application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your data.

Information We Collect

Messages in Milo-enabled group chats: When Milo is added to a WhatsApp group, it processes messages within that group to understand planning requests, preferences, and context. Milo only reads messages in groups where it has been explicitly added.

Account information: When you sign up for the Milo app, we collect your phone number (for authentication) and your name (if provided during onboarding).

Preferences and memories: Milo stores facts about your preferences (e.g., dietary restrictions, location, budget) to provide better recommendations in future planning sessions.

Calendar data: If you connect Google Calendar, Milo accesses your calendar events to check availability and add confirmed plans. This data is only used within the context of your groups and is never shared externally.

Waitlist information: If you join our waitlist, we collect your email address to notify you when Milo is available.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information exclusively to provide and improve the Milo service:

• Process planning requests and find relevant options
• Remember preferences to improve future recommendations
• Check calendar availability when scheduling plans
• Add confirmed plans to connected calendars
• Send approval notifications through the mobile app
• Authenticate your account

Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We may share information with:

• AI providers (Anthropic) — to process messages and generate responses. These providers do not retain your data beyond processing the request.
• Infrastructure providers (Supabase, Vercel, Railway) — to host and operate the service.
• Google — only if you connect Google Calendar, and only to the extent needed for calendar operations.

Data Retention

Messages and planning context are stored to provide continuity across conversations. Memories (preferences and facts) are stored indefinitely to improve your experience, but you can ask Milo to forget any information at any time by saying "milo forget that" in your group chat.

If you delete your account, all associated data (messages, memories, plans, and calendar connections) will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

• Encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS)
• Encrypted storage for sensitive tokens (AES-256-GCM for OAuth credentials)
• Rate limiting to prevent abuse
• Access controls restricting data access to authorized services

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the data Milo has stored about you
• Request deletion of your data
• Ask Milo to forget specific preferences or facts
• Disconnect third-party services (like Google Calendar) at any time
• Remove Milo from any group chat

Children's Privacy

Milo is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes through the app or via email.
